Operate and maintain the City Waste Water Plant

            The immediate supervisor for this position is the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent.

Biology or chemistry as it relates to water

Pumps

Laboratory testing procedures

Proper grammar and proper use of English in speaking and writing

OSHA standards and regulations concerning employee safety

Federal and state statutes concerning the work of the department

Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication

Special Requirements

 

The person in this position must have a valid driver’s license,. A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Maintain Waste Water Plant equipment

Make sure equipment is running properly

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment

 

Maintain departmental grounds

Mow lawns

Pick up paper and other debris

 

Attend training sessions and seminars for professional development

Maintain skills and knowledge necessary for proper waste water treatment

Read publications dealing with waste water abreast of changes in the field

Maintain all necessary certifications

 

Assist in all laboratory procedures

 

Assist the Superintendent in waste water purification

 

Perform other duties as directed
