Description

Summary: Performs assigned cash office and administrative duties as assigned by Manager.

Serves as back up clerk as needed: Inventories, prices, displays and restock merchandise on sales floor.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Cash Office: Responsible for performing/overseeing duties in the cash office including: Counting registers, verify against Z reading, count cash in the safe, solves any problems that may arise with overages/shortages.  Check against transaction manager (on line Nationwide) to verify credit card/gift cards.  Prepare daily for the bank.  Prepare register bags for the following day, do change runs for the store, prepare net sales sheets, make sure ATM is stocked and ready, fill out furniture and flooring commissions, if applicable make up installers checks and/or refund checks, keep track of and maintain petty cash, take care of any misc. money (gumball, soda, cardboard commissions etc. 

 

Administrative: Inputs employee schedules into time clock, tracks employee PDO requests, runs time clock variance reports as requested; prepares vendor bills for payment; assists with new employee orientations, including processing new hire paperwork; files/tracks employment applications, answers basic questions about company from employees and potential job applicants; responsible for processing store orders (tarps, doors, etc.) to appropriate warehouse; answer phone; and provides assistance to manager as requested.

 

As assigned – performs various Clerk Duties in the store: opens and unpacks merchandise from boxes or racks, prices merchandise using a pricing gun or hatchet gun. Stocks storage areas and shelves with merchandise. Codes merchandise and marks down merchandise as directed using markers on hand tags or uses ticket gun to place mark down on hang tags.  Records prices on price tags, signs etc referring to price lists and attaches tags. Keep inventory of stock.  Cleans shelves and aisles, keeping department clean.

Education and/or Experience:        

High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combinations of education and experience.  Some knowledge of merchandise or willingness to learn about merchandise merchandising. 

                   

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.                                                 

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract six digit numbers and to multiply and divide.                           

 

Reasoning Ability:        

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Kneel, stoop, crouch, talk and hear.  The employee must lift and/or move up to 20  pounds up to 70% of the time and lift/or move 40 pounds 30% of the time. Anything over 40 pounds requires a team lift or mechanical assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
